Currently, the controllers run firmware specifically designed for Line 6 HX Stomp and are not user-programmable for controlling other devices. However, development is underway on new firmware that will allow individual programming by the user, making broader compatibility possible in the future.

With firmware that supports long press and multi-button combinations, actions are triggered on button release.
Two cables are required for bidirectional MIDI communication: one sends messages from the controller to HX Stomp, and the other sends messages back from HX Stomp to the controller. This bidirectional communication allows the controller to synchronize with HX Stomp presets (loading LED ring colors, preset numbers, and MIDI clock for tap tempo indication).
No, but the RGB LED rings can change color, allowing customization of ring colors to match HX Stomp preset settings and block states. LED ring colors can be set using MIDI messages through HX Stomp's Command Center and Instant Messages - see the TRIPLE I/O 2 manual for details.
DUAL I/O: Yes - LED ring A indicates snapshot 1, LED ring B indicates snapshot 2, and both rings indicate snapshot 3.
TRIPLE I/O, TRIPLE I/O 2, QUADRUPLE I/O: Yes - the LED ring of the selected snapshot is brighter or blinking, depending on configuration. When blinking is enabled, the currently selected snapshot also serves as the tap tempo indicator.
